Day 6

Yesterday was probably the best day so far! We had two concerts, a matinee and evening concert. On the program was Mahler Symphony No. 1, and Beethoven Piano Concerto in G Major, with Canada's renowned Sarah Hagen at the piano (see previous post for bio).  Conducted by Arthur Arnold. It was tiring, but it was so worth it.
In between concerts we walked to a part of town that had stores and restaurants and such.  We first went to the quality food store to purchase razors and gum.  When we were in line the guy behind us totally paid for it!  He said "It's what we do".  It was very nice of him! Then we went to a chinese buffet with a group of kids for dinner and it was pretty good!
All but 3 of our dinner group. It was funny, on that TV was the G20 in Toronto and there were burning cars, lots of riot police with those crazy shields, guys tied up on the ground and lots of kicking in of windows and tagging nearby shops.  But it was entertaining.
Also, this is the best part.  We were all sitting there eating, and we see a group of kids from SOAP and these two people and this guy is handing them something out of a paper bag, and it honestly looked like they were dealing drugs.  Well, they came inside because they saw us staring and luckily the guy just likes handing out Powell River pins.  Well the lady asked us where we're from and the following conversation took place.
Lady "you're from Utah? I have a daughter in school in Rexburg"
Me "yeah I know Rexburg, I have quite a few friends who go there"
Lady (in a whisper) "really? So are you...Mormon?"
Tara and I "yes,"
Lady stands up and freaks out "you coming to church tomorrow?!"
That's right everyone, we finally found someone LDS and this was no coincidence I'm telling you right now...so she is picking us up for church at 9:15.
Anyway so after that we had our second concert and then anyone who was going to go party at "the TC" (some bar with loud music and a lot of alcohol) took the first bus and it took them there.  That's right, they actually planned for a bus to drive a group to the party.  So there were about 7 of us that stayed behind for the second bus.  That's right, 7.  Out of 72 students.  Oh yeah and then we found out that like 4 of them were on the bus because there was absolutely no room on the "party bus" so in reality only 3 of us didn't go out and party...it was crazy.  People were soooo excited.  But Tara and I were both in a mood cause we were so tired and so we were pretty entertaining to the people waiting for the bus with us, so it was pretty fun.
Tara being a model.  She was a little out of it, because she thought she saw a "flock of dogs" on the TV...

This is Krzysztov.  This was after I tried to say his name for like 15 minutes.  He looks really scary in this picture but he's not (he's the one with the flower in his hair at dinner in above picture)...he is a funny guy

Just waitin' for the bus at the complex (this is the group of kids that stayed behind.  We tried to convert the other 4 to non-partying, but they would have none of it.  The sad thing is that our conductor, Arthur Arnold actually had to tell everyone not to go get wasted Friday night because we have 2 concerts the next day!
